A highly anticipated sex and kidnapping trial began with opening arguments Wednesday after nearly two weeks of pre-trial motions followed by jury selection using long-form voir dire questioning. Washington County district attorneys say in April of 2008, 50-year-old Vernon Louis Woodall of Hillsboro kept captive a 20-year-old Washougal, Wash. woman in his apartment and forced her to have sex.... Industrial needs could prompt UGB expansion

Metro has to keep a 20-year supply of developable land within the boundary, and last year’s Urban Growth Report shows the region has fallen short of that cache. Task force to announce Forest Grove school needs

Cornelius voters approve gas tax

Voters in Cornelius approved a $0.02 per gallon gas tax in Tuesday’s election, with 690 of the 1,252 ballots counted as of Tuesday night cast in favor of approving the tax. Yes votes held a 10 percent lead, with 31 percent of ballots returned. Full story »
Jury: Bethany killer should die

Metro signs off on reserves
