    Volunteers picked up so many appliances and building materials on Oregon beaches Saturday, you might suspect a houseboat sank offshore this winter. Almost 4,200 volunteers turned out for the SOLV beach cleanup on Saturday, the first day of spring. They scoured more than 360 miles of coastline, picking up 35 tons of trash.
