Pacific chorus frogs sing through winter


In truly frigid climates, small frogs basically shut down their metabolism and wait for warmer weather. But in Oregon, where winters are warm by comparison, Pacific chorus frogs can sing all year. In fact, on some above-freezing nights during the winter, you're likely to hear them, but they'll be using a deeper-pitched call than their spring mating chirp.
