About Bill Monroe

By Bill Monroe, Special to The Oregonian

November 03, 2008, 4:32PM

Bill Monroe has covered Oregon's hunting, fishing and wildlife scene since 1981.

Uncle Sam (U.S. Navy) helped him see enough of the world to realize nothing anywhere compares with the Northwest, and Oregon has it all, from ocean to desert to mountains, to peaks.

And he still hasn't seen it all.

Bill is a loyal Oregon State University (OSU, not OS) graduate, has about a 22 handicap in golf when he picks up his clubs every 10 years or so, is a past president of the Outdoor Writers Association of America and has received numerous regional and national awards for his photos and stories.

He and his wife, Glenda, raised three children (and are working on two grands) in Oregon City.

Sometimes dinner, sometimes just track soup; readers who hunt, fish or just watch always know where Bill has been, how he's done and what he thinks.
